stills - darkness over paradise.jpegEdmondson Sonny Cole has been a photojournalist for over 16 years. He worked in various capacities as a freelance photojournalist for Sierra Leone Broadcasting Services Television and was later assigned to the Ministry of Defence and State House as the state cameraman. He has also worked for Reuters News Agency several years ago with his footage used by international agencies including CNN.

edison.jpgEdison Yongai was formerly a print journalist in Sierra Leone but is now involved in broadcasting in Australia. He is a producer and host of the weekly Sierra Leonean Community program on Radio Skid Row. Edison is a published writer and key member of the Association of Sierra Leonean Journalists in Exile. Edison was the first journalist to be imprisoned by the Sierra Leonean government.

abdul.jpgAbdul Rahaman Jalloh has been a print journalist for five years. He worked for the Reporter Press in Sierra Leone as both a political and  sports writer. During the civil war, Abdul fled to the neighboring country  of Guinea. In Guinea he worked for the newspaper agency The Nations and joined the Association of Sierra Leonean Journalists in Exile. In Sydney. Abdul hosts a community radio program with Radio Skid Row.

 

Barry Gamba is Chief Consultant for ICE’s Emerging Communities Program (EMERGE), working with refugee communities to produce digital arts and information projects, and develop skills in filmmaking, radio, digital music production and web-based practice. He has been Supervising Producer on Metro Screen’s Multicultural Mentorship Schemes (2000-02) and Raw Nerve (2002-03). He is also a freelance script editor and external reader for the NSW Film & Television Office.

Paula Abood is a community cultural development worker, predominantly working with people from non-English speaking backgrounds. She facilitates writing and oral history workshops such as the recent Holding the Reins project which produced a publication featuring writings by women from culturally diverse backgrounds in Western Sydney, and the Media Spaces and Places anti-racism billboard series, also in Western Sydney.

Walter McIntosh received a BSc in Cinema and Photography from Ithaca College in Ithaca NY, USA in 1996.  Since returning to Australia he has been editing assistant on many documentaries including the AFI award winners Hephzibah, Facing The Music and A Wedding In Ramallah.  Walter recently attained an MA degree in documentary editing at the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS).  While at AFTRS he cut the short doco Sentences – about an art program run for prisoners inside a maximum security wing at Long Bay Gaol - and Street Level, a half hour featuring Sydney homeless youth who tell their stories through rap music.  Street Level was selected for the 2004 Australian Hip-Hop festival.  Walter loves the creative environment of the cutting room and the process of forging a story from the rushes.  He looks forward to editing more documentaries and occasionally directing one.

Herbert Abosede Christian Williams completed secondary education in Sierra Leone, certificate in computing studies and office procedures latter worked for the United Nations Mission in Sierra Leone (UNAMSIL) as an Administrative Clerk. Currently studing Financial Services(Accounting) in Australia.
